Fiddler is one of the few platforms that genuinely covers the ML governance use case end to end — predictive models, LLMs, and the boundary between them. Hierarchical traces from application down to span level, evaluations and guardrails that can run inside the customer's environment, and audit trails designed for compliance teams.
Where it shines
- Audit story. When your AI use case has to satisfy a regulator, Fiddler is set up for that conversation in a way most LLM-native tools simply aren't.
- In-environment execution. Evaluations and guardrails can run in your VPC. For data residency-sensitive deployments, this is non-negotiable.
- ML + LLM unified. If you operate both, Fiddler is one of the few tools that covers them in one platform.
Where it falls short
- Setup. Real enterprise software with real enterprise setup. Plan for an ML platform team to own this.
- Pricing. No published pricing; expect a six-figure starting point.
- Cost-to-value for non-regulated teams. A lot of platform you don't need if you're not in finance, health, or government.
Bottom line
If you have a compliance team and your AI work touches regulated data, Fiddler should be on your shortlist. If you don't, the LLM specialists (Braintrust, Langfuse) deliver more value per dollar without the enterprise overhead.
